Intestinal Anaerobic Infection

传染科

Common symptoms

发烧、便血、腹痛、粘液便

The pathology of disease

Anaerobes are a major component of normal flora and can cause infection in any tissue or organ. In recent years, with improved culture techniques, anaerobes can be promptly isolated and identified, and reports of anaerobic infection have increased, with their important role in bacterial infections increasingly recognized by clinicians. The main anaerobe causing enteritis is Clostridium, presenting as Clostridium enterocolitis.

Common Symptoms

Fever; bloody stool; abdominal pain; mucoid stool

Causes and Pathogenesis

Clostridium is present in the normal digestive tract; after patients receive antimicrobial therapy, the bacterium proliferates abnormally, so it is an endogenous infection. However, the bacterium is also present in the hospital environment and can be carried on healthcare workers' hands, so it can also cause exogenous or cross-infection through fecal-oral contact. C. difficile enteritis is mostly nosocomial; almost all antimicrobial drugs can induce this disease. The incidence in the general population is very low; most cases occur in the elderly.

Treatment

Anti-infective therapy, supportive therapy, surgical treatment, traditional Chinese medicine

Preventive Measures

Pay attention to food hygiene and avoid food and water contamination. Refrigerated foods should be heated to boiling before eating. Avoid contact with patients and sick animals.

Department to Visit
