Streptococcal Infection

传染科

Common symptoms

腰痛、呕吐、乏力、恶心、少尿、厌食

The pathology of disease

Streptococci are common pyogenic cocci ubiquitous in nature, feces, and healthy nasopharynx; most are nonpathogenic. Medically important species include S. pyogenes, viridans streptococci, S. pneumoniae, and S. agalactiae. They cause two main diseases: (1) infections like acute tonsillitis, pyoderma, pneumonia; (2) allergic diseases like acute glomerulonephritis. Worldwide and year-round.

Common Symptoms

Back pain; vomiting; fatigue; nausea; oliguria; anorexia

Causes and Pathogenesis

Streptococcal infection directly causes streptococcal pneumonia; virulence depends on host defense, allergy, bacterial load, and the toxins/enzymes produced.

Treatment

Drug therapy, rehabilitation

Preventive Measures

Strengthen general fitness; maintain environmental hygiene to reduce URI/pharyngitis/tonsillitis; maintain cleanliness; treat pyoderma promptly.
