Colorado tick fever is an acute Coltivirus disease transmitted by ticks. Clinical: fever, headache, back pain, biphasic fever lasting ~1 week, leukopenia.
Macule; papulomacular rash; myalgia; altered consciousness; chills; fatigue; photophobia; eye pain
(1) Etiology: Coltivirus (dsRNA, 35-50 nm, lipoprotein envelope, ether-sensitive). Dermacentor ticks are vectors. (2) Pathogenesis: granulomatous primary lesion at bite; rash = endothelial swelling/proliferation/degeneration of capillaries/arterioles/venules with thrombosis; perivascular mononuclear/plasma cell infiltrates.
No specific treatment needed
(1) Prevent hard-tick bites; personal protection in endemic spring/summer outdoors. (2) Killed/live vaccines exist but limited practical use. Patients should not donate blood for 6 months.
It is recommended to visit the Infectious Diseases department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
