Acute abdomen; chylothorax; diarrhea; ascites; abdominal pain; low fever; chills; keratitis; chyluria; peritonitis
Viviparous microfilariae in peripheral blood; 280 × 7 µm (bancrofti); sheathed; cephalic space; nerve ring; G/R2/R3/R4 cells; anal pore; tail nuclei. Survive 2-3 months (up to 3 years in human; 9+ months in experimental animals).
Symptomatic, drug, surgical, supportive therapy
(1) Mass screen/treat: DEC 3 g/3-5 d (bancrofti) or 4.2 g; malayi 0.5-1.0 g. (2) Mosquito control; environmental management; residual spraying.
