Chronic enteritis is persistent inflammation of small bowel, due to Crohn disease, celiac disease, infection (TB/parasites), ischemia, or medication, presenting with chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, and malabsorption. Treatment: identify/treat cause (Crohn: 5-ASA/biologics; celiac: gluten-free diet; infection: antimicrobials); nutritional support; endoscopy/imaging; biopsies; treat complications (stricture/malabsorption); follow-up to monitor healing/malignancy risk.
