Moyamoya Disease

神经内科

Common symptoms

颅内出血、驻站医、精神萎靡、瘫痪、痴呆、假性延髓性麻痹、恶心

The pathology of disease

Moyamoya disease is progressive stenosis/occlusion of the intracranial internal carotid arteries with development of abnormal collateral moyamoya vessels at the base of the brain, causing recurrent TIAs, ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, especially in children/young adults. Treatment: surgical revascularization (direct/indirect bypass) to reduce stroke risk; antiplatelet; control risk factors; treat acute stroke; long-term neurovascular follow-up; genetic counseling.

Common Symptoms

Recurrent TIA/stroke; headache; ICA occlusion; basal moyamoya vessels; children/young adults

Causes and Pathogenesis

Progressive intracranial ICA stenosis with fragile collateral vessels causes ischemia/hemorrhage.

Treatment

Revascularization surgery; antiplatelet; treat acute stroke; long-term follow-up

Preventive Measures

Early diagnosis; revascularization reduces stroke risk.
