Prolymphocytic leukemia (PLL) is a rare lymphocytic leukemia; middle-aged/elderly (>50); male predominance; peripheral B- or T-cell tumor.
Lymphadenopathy; bleeding tendency; weight loss; pleural effusion; ascites; oral ulcer; low fever
Sex predilection. Cytogenetics: 14q abnormality in 60%; 12 trisomy (less than CLL); 6q-; t(6;12); t(2;13). 80% B-PLL (monoclonal Ig rearrangement, surface IgM, CD5+ in half, SN8 differentiates); 20% T-PLL (CD2/CD4/CD8/CD7, alpha-naphthyl esterase positive).
Drug therapy; supportive care
