Plasma-Cell Leukemia (PCL)

血液科

Common symptoms

意识障碍、淋巴结肿大

The pathology of disease

Plasma-cell leukemia (PCL) is a rare acute leukemia; divided into primary and secondary PCL.

Common Symptoms

Consciousness disturbance; lymph-node enlargement

Causes and Pathogenesis

(1) Etiology: primary PCL from multiple myeloma; secondary PCL from multiple myeloma/lymphoma/CLL/macroglobulinemia. (2) Mechanism: abnormal plasma cells diffusely infiltrate tissues; break through marrow-blood barrier → circulating plasma cells.

Treatment

Drug, supportive, chemotherapy

Preventive Measures

(1) Don't abuse drugs (chloramphenicol/cytotoxic/immunosuppressants; hair dyes raise leukemia risk 3.8x in women). (2) Clean produce (reduce pesticide residue). (3) Screen high-risk groups. (4) Avoid phenol/chlorobenzene/nitrobenzene/perfumes/pesticides/synthetic fibers/rubber/plastics/dyes. (5) Avoid excessive X-rays/radiation; pregnant women/infants especially. (6) Prevent viral infection (type-C RNA virus).

Department to Visit
