Polymyositis is idiopathic inflammatory myopathy with symmetric proximal muscle weakness. Treatment: glucocorticoids (prednisone 1 mg/kg/day); steroid-sparing agents (methotrexate, azathioprine, mycophenolate); IVIG; rituximab/cyclosporine for refractory; physical therapy; monitor ILD (PFT/HRCT) and malignancy; follow-up rheumatology/neurology.
