Mesenteric aneurysm is focal dilatation of the superior/inferior mesenteric arteries or their branches, associated with pancreatitis, trauma, FMD, or mycotic infection. It may be asymptomatic or cause abdominal pain/rupture. Treatment: control BP; treat pancreatitis/infection; endovascular embolization or surgical repair for large (>2 cm), symptomatic, mycotic, or ruptured aneurysms; assess bowel perfusion; surgical backup for bowel ischemia.
Asymptomatic; abdominal pain; rupture; associated with pancreatitis/trauma/FMD/mycotic
Pancreatitis/trauma/FMD/infection causes focal dilatation with rupture risk.
Treat cause; embolize/resect large/symptomatic/mycotic/ruptured; assess bowel perfusion
Treat pancreatitis; control atherosclerosis; repair before rupture.
It is recommended to visit the Vascular-surgery department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
