Vasculitis is inflammation and necrosis of blood-vessel walls, classified by vessel size (large - Takayasu/GCA; medium - PAN/Kawasaki; small - ANCA-associated/immune-complex), organ involvement, and etiology. Clinical: systemic symptoms plus organ-specific ischemia/infarction. Treatment: glucocorticoids; immunosuppressants (cyclophosphamide/rituximab/azathioprine) by type; treat underlying infection/autoimmune; organ support; long-term monitoring.

Causes and Pathogenesis

Immune-mediated inflammation destroys vessel walls, causing stenosis/aneurysm/ischemia.
