Indirect Inguinal Hernia

Indirect inguinal hernia is protrusion of peritoneum/contents through the deep inguinal ring (along spermatic cord), the most common groin hernia, presenting with groin bulge worse on coughing/straining. Treatment: elective surgical repair (open Lichtenstein mesh or laparoscopic TEP/TAPP); watchful waiting if asymptomatic/minimal symptoms; urgent repair if incarcerated/strangulated; treat constipation/cough/obesity risk factors; postoperative recovery; follow-up to detect recurrence.
