Mammary TB is rare, usually secondary to pulmonary, intestinal, or mesenteric lymph node TB via hematogenous spread, or from adjacent foci (rib, sternal, pleural, axillary node TB). It starts as single or multiple painless nodules with unclear borders that may adhere to skin; liquefaction forms cold abscesses that rupture into sinuses or ulcers with thin, flocculent discharge and undermined edges; acid-fast bacilli may be found on smear.
Mastodynia; nipple retraction; breast pain; nodule; night sweats; low fever; abscess
Mostly hematogenous dissemination from pulmonary or mesenteric node TB, or retrograde lymphatic/direct spread from adjacent foci (rib, sternal, pleural, or axillary node TB).
