Symptoms

Left upper quadrant pain; referred left shoulder (Kehr); hypotension; tachycardia; after blunt abdominal trauma; abdominal distension

Causes

Blunt abdominal trauma; steering wheel; sports; fractured rib; mononucleosis spleen risk.

Treatment

ABC; fluid resuscitation; FAST/CT; non-operative in stable; splenectomy if unstable; vaccination post-splenectomy
