Neck Hemangioma

Hemangioma is congenital; from mesodermal remnants; active endothelial sprouts → endothelial cords → canalized → connected to residual vessels; self-contained vascular system.extensive proliferation vessels; early embryonic primitive vascular plexus → organ-specific vascular/lymphatic plexuses.

Common Symptoms

Maternal neck/back pain; swallowing disorder; stiff neck; airway obstruction; blood-streaked sputum

Causes and Pathogenesis

Unknown; developmental arrest at one vascular stage. Three embryonic stages: plexiform/reticular/truncal. Capillary (plexiform arrest); cavernous (reticular fusion). Types: (1) capillary: well-formed single-layer endothelium, little stroma, bright-red lobule; (2) cavernous: large blood-filled vessels, purple-blue, compressible, deep neck; (3) mixed.
