The pathology of disease

Chronic cystitis is chronic inflammation of the bladder wall mainly from nonspecific gram-negative bacilli (e.g. E. coli); some follow inadequately treated acute cystitis, and most are secondary to urethral/bladder primary lesions or upper-tract chronic inflammation. It needs systematic evaluation to find and treat the primary cause.

Causes

It is often migration of upper-tract acute infection or chronic infection, or induced by lower-tract lesions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, chronic prostatitis, urethral stricture, bladder stones/foreign bodies, urethral meatus synechiae, hymenal umbrella and paraurethritis; without removing the primary cause, symptoms persist.

Treatment
