Hydrocele testis

Hydrocele testis is excess fluid in the tunica vaginalis around the testis, at any age, common clinically. By location and processus closure it is four types: positive, communicating, funicular and mixed. Main symptom: cystic scrotal mass; small effusion is asymptomatic, large ones cause dull dragging pain on standing and, when severe, impair voiding and daily life (giant hydrocele).

Common Symptoms

Dull pain; testicular pain; testicular distending pain; Dong Xuefeng; epididymal cyst; testicular tenderness

Causes

Secondary hydrocele follows infection, trauma, tumor and filariasis.

Treatment

Observation, surgery when symptomatic

Prevention

Treat scrotal infection and trauma promptly.
