Seminal vesiculitis

男科

Common symptoms

精子不液化、腹部不适、尿频、精囊增大、尿道烧灼感、精液量多、乏力、头昏、尿痛、尿急

The pathology of disease

Seminal vesiculitis is inflammation of the seminal vesicle caused by E. coli etc. when adjacent organs (prostate) are infected or the prostate/vesicle is congested and bacteria invade, presenting mainly as hemospermia. It is nonspecific or specific; nonspecific includes acute and chronic, specific includes tuberculous and gonococcal; nonspecific chronic is commonest.

Common Symptoms

Non-liquefied sperm; abdominal discomfort; frequency; enlarged seminal vesicle; urethral burning; high semen volume; fatigue; dizziness; dysuria; urgency

Causes

In TCM, excess sexual activity injures the kidney, with kidney-yin depletion and deficient fire disturbing the seminal chamber causing hemospermia; trauma with blood stasis or emotional stagnation also contribute. Bacterial infection ascending from the prostate is the main cause.

Treatment

Antibiotics, rest, avoid alcohol

Prevention

Treat prostatitis promptly, avoid excessive sexual activity.
