Seminal vesicle calculus

Seminal vesicle stones are very rare. Urine reflux, distal ejaculatory duct malformation, ejaculatory duct obstruction and chronic infection may cause seminal vesicle and ejaculatory duct stones.

Causes

Corriere reported vesicle stones closely resemble pancreatic stones, related to abnormal pancreatic stone protein gene expression, suggesting vesicle stones result from lack of protease in semen. They often accompany chronic inflammation and fibrosis, may fully obstruct the duct, single or multiple, with epithelial/mucus core and salt deposits, 1-2 mm up to 1 cm, hard surface.
