Brain Cyst

Brain cyst is a benign, usually congenital, CSF-like intracranial cavity (arachnoid cyst, ependymal cyst, porencephalic cyst). Most are asymptomatic incidental findings. Larger cysts may cause headache, focal deficits, or hydrocephalus by mass effect. Treatment: observation/serial imaging if asymptomatic; surgical fenestration/shunt if symptomatic or causing hydrocephalus.

Congenital/developmental CSF-filled cyst; mass effect when large.

Treatment
