Choroid plexus papilloma is a benign tumor of choroid plexus epithelium that secretes CSF; slow-growing, rarely malignant. Ventricular system/cerebellopontine angle; solid, well-demarcated, red granular fronded, may calcify. May cause communicating hydrocephalus from overproduction.
Coma; nausea/vomiting; hydrocephalus; somnolence; focal deficits; apathy; ICP; nystagmus
SV40 virus in animals; HPV E6/E7 possible. Gross: cauliflower/nodular, dark red, well-demarcated, granular. Micro: single layer of columnar epithelium on fibrovascular cores, psammoma bodies, rare mitoses; GFAP/S100/cytokeratin/transthyretin positive. Malignant (10-20%): invasive, necrosis, atypia, high mitoses.
Drug therapy; supportive care; surgery
