Common symptoms

动眼神经麻痹、神经痛、听力下降、眼睑下垂、脑疝、复视、视力视野改变

The pathology of disease

Middle-cranial-fossa meningioma arises from medial greater sphenoid wing/middle-fossa floor; within dura; extremely vascular.

Common Symptoms

Oculomotor palsy; neuralgia; hearing loss; ptosis; brain herniation; diplopia; visual-field defect

Causes and Pathogenesis

Mostly endothelial/fibroblastic, then vascular; rare meningeal sarcoma. Spherical/en plaque along middle-fossa floor; medially compresses ICA/cavernous sinus; anterior to sphenoid ridge; laterally causes temporal hyperostosis; posterior erodes petrous apex; through tentorium to posterior fossa. Within dura; richly vascular from middle meningeal/middle cerebral arteries.

Treatment

Drug, surgery, rehabilitation

Preventive Measures

Regular lifestyle; avoid acidic body constitution; high-risk groups: ginsenoside Rh2 (16.2%) for 5 years reduces incidence; post-op/adjuvant use prevents recurrence/metastasis.
