Intrahepatic stones (hepatolithiasis) are calculi in intrahepatic bile ducts, associated with biliary infection/stasis/liver fluke, causing recurrent cholangitis, biliary obstruction, and secondary biliary cirrhosis/cholangiocarcinoma. Treatment: ERCP/PTCD with stone extraction/lithotripsy/stent; antibiotics for acute cholangitis; surgical hepatectomy for localized/recurrent disease or atrophy; biliary-enteric drainage; monitor for cholangiocarcinoma; follow-up imaging (MRCP/US) to assess recurrence/strictures.
Recurrent cholangitis; RUQ pain; jaundice; by intrahepatic calculi
Biliary stasis/infection/parasites cause intrahepatic stone formation and obstruction.
ERCP/PTCD extraction/lithotripsy; hepatectomy if localized; antibiotics; monitor cholangiocarcinoma
Treat biliary infection/liver fluke; early drainage of obstruction.
It is recommended to visit the Hepatobiliary-surgery/Gastroenterology/Infectious-disease department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
