Ulnar nerve palsy is dysfunction of the ulnar nerve, most often entrapment at the elbow (cubital tunnel) or wrist (Guyon canal). Clinical: numbness/tingling in the little finger and ulnar half of ring finger, weakness of hand intrinsic muscles (finger abduction/adduction), and claw-hand deformity in chronic cases. Treatment: elbow padding/splinting, activity modification; surgical decompression/transposition for severe/refractory cases.
Little/ring-finger numbness; hand intrinsic weakness; claw-hand deformity; elbow tenderness
Entrapment at elbow/wrist (or trauma) injures the ulnar nerve, producing sensory/motor deficit in ulnar distribution.
Elbow padding/splint; activity modification; surgical decompression/transposition if severe
Avoid prolonged elbow flexion/pressure; ergonomics; splinting.
It is recommended to visit the Orthopedic Surgery department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
