Lichen sclerosus of vulva

Lichen sclerosus of the vulva is a skin disease marked by atrophy and thinning of vulvar and perianal skin. Because atrophy is characteristic, dermatologists still call it lichen sclerosus et atrophicus. It mainly affects the clitoris and prepuce, labia minora, posterior fourchette and perianal area; it is the commonest vulvar white lesion.

Common Symptoms

Peeling; papule; depigmentation; vulvar atrophy; vulvar itching; Jin Bo; itching; sclerosis

Causes

Unclear; several views exist, including familial reports of mother-daughter/sister cases.

Treatment

Topical potent steroids, follow-up

Prevention

Avoid irritation, keep dry.
