Infertility means a married couple with normal sex, no contraception and cohabitation for 2 years without conception. Never conceived in 2 years is primary infertility; prior delivery/abortion then 2+ years without conception is secondary infertility. Absolute infertility means severe congenital/acquired anatomic abnormality or physiologic defect uncorrectable by any method (e.g. congenital absence of uterus); relative infertility means a cause reducing fertility.
