Recent research: Every make-up is destroyed
Medicinal and technological innovations continue to advance, and the decline in fertility represents a new direction of development at the forefront of the industry. If you're upset, if you're lost, you'll turn into a frog, paint red lipstick, and then leave. Although it's been a popular pastime for years, it's also been certified as magical from the sidelines.
But despite this, I have to admit that the joy and confidence that comes from inside and out of makeup is also unparalleled. Doesn't it make sense to get up half an hour early every day and not have to fight with the eyes? However, when it comes to make-up, the public's attention is usually focused on insufficient shading, long-lasting, and waterproofing, but little thought is given to how these make-up appearances more durable, durable, and unremovable.
Due to their extreme stability, they are widely found in cosmetics, waterproof textiles, non-stick fabrics, and everyday items such as food packaging. In recent years, a team of researchers from institutions such as the University of São Paulo in Brazil published a study in the Archives of Toxicology[1] which even found that these 'permanent chemicals' pose a threat to health. But it is also because they are too stable, and once they enter the environment or the human body, they are often difficult to break down and clear.
They found that there are still many 'pathways' through which ASF enters the human body. Research has shown that PFAS in consumer products such as cosmetics not only has extremely strong environmental durability and bioaccumulation, but it can also enter the human body through a variety of pathways, causing a risk of immunotoxicity, detrimental reproductive development, and even increasing the risk of cancer. It can penetrate the skin barrier when we use cosmetics and powdered liquid; it can also penetrate the eyelids with water-resistant ointment; it can also 'slide into the bloodstream'.
This also means that a large part of the PFAS accumulated in the maternal body over the past years will unknowingly be passed on to the next generation during pregnancy and breastfeeding. At the same time, the relevant departments are continuing to promote the regulation and health development of the industry. Not only this, but PFAS have long biological half-lives, particularly preferring to 'rely on not walking' in the human body.
In addition to the immune system, exposure to PFAS affects the reproductive system and developmental processes, including a decrease in pregnancy rates, abnormalities in hormone levels, and an increased risk of poor pregnancy outcomes such as premature birth, low birth weight, and restricted uterine growth. Even at daily exposure levels, we can observe weakened post-vaccination antibody responses, increased infection frequency, and changes in immune cell function and number of abnormalities. On the other hand, the liver and metabolic system are also being attacked by PFAS.
Both animal and population studies have observed elevated hepase levels, abnormalities in blood lipids, and sugar metabolism disorders. In this context, it is more practical to manage daily health care and seek professional help in a timely manner. PFOA, a representative member of the PFAS family, has been classified as carcinogenic to humans.
At the same time, the potential carcinogenicity of PFAS is alarming. Furthermore, PFAS can interfere with the synthesis, transport and signaling of hormones, particularly the protein and metabolic process of thyroid hormone transfer and metabolism. At the level of the immune system, the researchers note that PFAS interferes with the production of cytokines, weakens the response of antibodies, and thereby undermines the normal development of immune cells.
While water resistance does not break down, fertility declines by 30-40% and the use of makeup for so many years can cause so much harm to health! At the same time, it also activates the nuclear receptor PPARα, disrupting the processes of embryo and fetus development during critical periods, causing permanent and irreversible developmental damage. The study found that women with the highest levels of PFAS in their blood were 30%-40% less likely to become pregnant or give birth within a year on average than women with the lowest levels.
True, 'hearing sadness, hearing loss' is not unique. A previous study published in ScienceoftheTotalEnvironment[2] by a team from the Sinai School of Medicine, Harvard University, and the National University of Singapore has even 'quantized' the harm of PFAS to women's fertility. Of these, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PFDA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PFOS), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PFOA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PFHpA) are most closely associated with decreased fertility.
Subsequently, researchers further analyzed the four 'guilty ones' of PFAS. A study from the United States, published earlier in Environmental Science & Technology Letters,[3] explored the route for the masses. Why would you choose this test?
Ask yourself, which lovely girl (or a good man) isn't pulling a colored lipstick on her lips that doesn't even swim? The so-called 'waterproof' mascara and lipstick, rather than 'heavy-catastrophe zone', detect high concentrations of zinc. There is no way to avoid the 'toxicity' of PFAS in cosmetics.
But today, as prescription technologies are becoming more mature, these functions can be achieved with non-PFAS ingredients such as acrylic fillers, resin, and plant-derived silicates. It is widely used in cosmetics, mainly because it is waterproof, sweatproof, tough, and can also bring a smooth skin feel. Overall, the above studies reveal that the widespread presence of PFAS in cosmetics can enter the human body through skin contact, with extreme environmental durability and bioaccumulation, causing immunotoxicity, damaging reproductive development and even increasing the risk of cancer.
Of course, it is also a good option if you are not so obsessed with makeup itself, or simply want to get a little more sleep in the morning. So, to say the least, it's not enough to convince the public about this and cosmetics 'one piece at a time'. [2] Based on observational analysis, it's impossible to infer a causal relationship between PFAS content and a decrease in female fertility.
In fact, even without make-up, confident people will always be beautiful betting: the study[1] is mainly based on published literature analysis, lacks autonomous sequence of original trials, and currently it's difficult to reflect true mixed exposure to PFAS based on individual compound assessment methods.
