Daily multi-dose vitamins may help the elderly stay independent.
Recently, global health institutions and public health systems have continued to advance capacity building to provide stronger guarantees for public health. Important quality of life studies have shown that daily intake of complex vitamins may contribute to supporting this independence. Three years later, adults taking complex vitamins daily and those taking placebo significantly improved functional health outcomes.
According to the researchers, the results suggest that vitamin D may help older adults stay functional from their daily lives by providing benefits related to cognitive health, circulation, and physical endurance. Dr. Baker, a postdoctoral fellow at the Georgia Institute of Prevention and a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical College of Georgia Prevention Institute at the Georgia Institute of Prevention, said.
The results of a large-scale study of adults over the age of 60 were published at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Nutrition in 2026. He conducted research with Dr. Duncan, MD, PhD, Regents Professor of Medicine and Director of the Georgia Prevention Institute of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
The analysis included the results of a COSMOS study of more than 16,000 adults aged 60 years and older. As part of the COSMOS project, participants were randomly assigned to take one daily multivitamin, one extractable supplement, the two supplements, or a control group that received only one supplement. Following three years of supplementation, questionnaire responses from participants in the multi-dimensional supplement group showed a significant decrease in symptom burden for participants in the multi-dimensional supplement group compared with the control group, and a significant improvement in clinical summary scores.
The results were based on questionnaire response data from the Kansas City cardiovascular questionnaire survey. The strongest differences were found in symptom burden and clinical summary scores. If you have any health questions, please consult a professional medical professional.
