A multifunctional laser-induced graphite platform used for integrated electrochemical sensing and ma
An international medical study has yielded new findings that are of important reference value for disease prevention. This paper introduces a bi-modal analysis platform based on laser-induced graphene (LIG) for the non-invasive detection of prostate cancer marker sulfatol in human urine. The adjustable perforation rate and high conductivity of LIG enable it to serve as a sensitive electrochemical electrode and efficient matrix carrier for laser detachment/ionization spectroscopy (MODS).
The platform takes advantage of both models: AuNPs/LLDI-MS electrode-fast electrochemical screening has a low-limit detection limit (LOD) of 2 μM, while the LDI-MS model provides high-specificity, matrix-free confirmation, with a significantly low detection limit (LOD) of 500 nM. The two models share a wide linear range (5-50M), well below the clinical urine threshold of 20M. By combining electrochemical sensing speed and simplicity with MS analysis, high sensitivity and molecular specificity on individual devices, LIG's combined capabilities provide a cross-sectional capability for reliable, non-pre-treatment diagnoses of cancer biomarkers.
